I have a story that I find unbelievable. My name is Jay Manuel and I live in Arabi, LA. Last August I found myself evacuating my family and some of my belongings from the path of Hurricane Katrina. Needless to say when I was in Texas watching the news I saw that the parish (St. Bernard) that I lived in was completely submerged with water. After a month we were able to finally get to go “home” because the water had finally receded. When I came home and literally dug through my belongings in the 6 inches of marsh mud, I found that there really wasn’t that much to salvage. I have a 5 year old and a 2 year old and therefore was not able to pack as much as I would have liked to have taken. I did not get to take any of my hunting clothes, guns or stands. I lost all of it, or so I thought. I collected all the hunting stuff that I thought I might be able to salvage and put it on the side for later cleaning. I found my tinks scent bag with my scentlok clothes and it was filthy dirty. I peaked inside and it had mud inside, marsh mud. I closed the bag and put it on the side again figuring that it was going to be for the trash crew to pickup. Last week, almost 11 months later I took the bag and decided that I was going to try and clean my scentlok clothes and see if I could do anything with them or just throw them away. I first hosed the clothes outside and the dirt came right off. Next I took the clothes and washed them in the washing machine with baking soda. When I took them out I didn’t notice the “Katrina Smell”. I then washed them again and hung the outside to dry. The clothes have no odor to them at all. I couldn’t believe that they were clean and ready for use again. It’s a shame I couldn’t save any of my other hunting clothes but at least I was able to save the scentlok clothes. I just thought that you at Scent Lok would like to hear from a “true survivor” scentlok suit story as to how well your scentlok gear really works. I am planning on buying another batch of scentlok gear for this upcoming year. Just wanted to say thanks for the good gear. Thanks!
