To whom it may concern:
Recently, I purchased Scent-lok products from Cabela for Moose hunting in Northern Ontario Canada. It decided it was time to change my hunting gear which was more than 15 years old. Because of the Moose Hunting laws on Ontario, I was not “picked” for an adult moose therefore, they only thing I could shoot was a calf. So I decided to drive up to my hunting area to test your product for Moose in the coldest hunting condition on Northern Ontario.
With my Scent-lok gloves, jacket (GOR TEX Supreme) and pants on the first day of the hunt, I was able to call out a Bull Moose onto the road during the evening. I was sitting on the side of the road continuously calling it towards me and testing the Scent-lok products. It worked! The Moose was continuously raising his nose to attempt to capture a scent. The Bull Moose was not more than 75 feet away on the road. When it began getting a little too close for comfort, I decided to get up and walk on the road. It was then he saw me and gently began to walk slowly, without fear, around me and then over the hill into the night.
On the second day, I walked to road. There was no wind and a no noise cold morning. With the Scent-lok clothing, I was able to walk confidently without making a sound, in stealth as they say. It was so quiet that morning that I could here myself walk. It was around 08:30 that cold winter October in Northern Ontario when I walk upon a Bull Moose. He was not moving nor was I. After a minute or two, he began eating again and walking two to three steps at a time. It was then I began to walk. For every step he took I took. It was only after a few steps when I heard a thrashing noise and saw an elder Bull Moose with his oversized antlers. His fur was brown, not like the young bull beside him and I knew he was no ones fool. The both would occasionally raise their noses attempting to determine whether they could smell me. Nothing! They continued eating, and walking two to three steps at a time. They were not more than 50 feet away along side of the road. It was then I decided to lift my Scent-lok Supreme GOR TEX hood (jacket) when the smallest of smell captured the old Bull’s nose and the both fled into the swampy forest.
During the days of the Moose hunt, the weather was very cold and on some days, very windy. For those who know the October weather in Northern Ontario know that by this time, it has already snowed and winter has arrived. The jacket and pants were perfect. The only short fall, which was mine to make, was that the gloves I purchases were not warm enough. I forgot how cold it got in the evenings. Be assured, I will be calling upon Scent-lok to order warmer gloves and other clothing i.e. boots, undergarments, etc.
Reading most of the articles used for Deer hunting with Scent-lok, I can honestly say that it also works for the Moose in Northern Regions of Ontario Canada during the coldest days of the hunt in October. I would highly recommend Scent-lok to all Moose Hunters.
yours truly ,
Sylvain Roy
